And we made it. We had a fairly easy trip though we only had a 50 minute turn around in Iceland and arrived 20 minutes late. We actually got through customs as our plane to Munich was set to take off but though we ran to our gate, the boarding had just started so we were fine. Rebecca slept a good bit. Me, not so much. But it's 9:00 PM as I'm typing this and we feel ok.
After a $90 cab ride we arrived at and checked into the Hotel Splendid Dollman. Here is our lovely little room.
We freshened up a bit and headed into the old part of town. We stopped in for a warm strüdel with vanilla cream and a couple of coffee at Dollmayer - a truly beautiful food store.

We had a quick stop by the bathroom and the pissers had a little bee painted on them so it gives you something to aim for.

Having filled up a bit and emptied out a bit, we headed on into the city center to the Viktualienmark. This is a truly fantastic area of all sorts of food purveyors. We passed through the main square

and passed these fellas

before meeting up with this guy.

Yes. Andrew Schroeder took a 5 hour train trip down from Berlin to spend a couple of days with us.
After a couple of sausages and a beer and with threatening skies complete with thunder and lightening, we headed to the Frauenkirche. Here are some pictures.

'dem bones is bedazzled!

There has to be a better place to keep your sword!

While we were in the church the skies opened up. We ran across the alley and sat and had a coffee before going out to see the main event of the town square. The clock put on a show.
And here we are beginning to be water logged.

When you're wet, there's only one thing to do - go get your Hofbräuhaus on!
First we cased the joint and look what was happening upstairs.
Then we found some space at a table with a local couple (whose dialect we couldn't understand at all) and ordered a few small beers.
To give you a bit of perspective, this is how the beer looked in comparison to where it was going!
Next up, you gotta have a little pretzel.
Then you need a little mood music.
And some light snackies. Here, Wienerschnitzel with lingonberries and potato salad, some crazy form of pig in a fab gravy with a Kartoffelknödel, and a beautiful bowl of Käsespaetzle.
I considered eating the whole potato thing but Rebecca balked.
She did have time for a pose however.
And after a filling dinner you gotta floss.
And then it was a soggy rainy walk back to our splendid hotel Hotel Splendid Dollman. A shower was a welcomed thing after being in places all afternoon, slightly or quite moist and sitting in doors where the air never moves and the temperature is half a degree above what makes you sweat.
It looks like tomorrow is going to be a rainy mess so I don't know what we will do with our day. I assume we will just get wet. And why not.
Hope all is well where you are.
